Ty-Ty French Toast

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 Granny Smith –OR- Jonagold apples
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1-1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tbs water
  • Cinnamon to taste
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced 1/2” to 1” thick
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Nutmeg to taste

Cream Topping

  • 1/2 cup whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

Directions

Mix butter, sugar and water in saucepan, stir over medium until bubbly. Place sauce in a 9×13” pan and allow to cool for 20–30 minutes. Peel and slice apples thin. Place on sauce close together in overlapping rows. Sprinkle with cinnamon and raisins. Place bread on top of apples. Beat milk, eggs and vanilla in bowl, pour on top of bread. Sprinkle nutmeg on top. Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours to overnight.

Bake covered in oven at 350˚ for 1 hour. Flip out of pan to serve, spoon additional sauce on top of French toast.

For cream beat all ingredients together in bowl, serve on the side or dollop on top. Sprinkle almonds on top to garnish.
